NAMBI FOUNDATION Volunteer

Volunteer opportunities at NAMBI FOUNDATION are flexible and can range from short-term involvement to placements lasting several months or longer. We welcome people who are interested in contributing their time, skills, and experience while learning from the communities and professionals they work alongside.

Volunteering with us offers an opportunity to gain practical experience within a community-based organisation and to develop a deeper understanding of development work in Uganda. Volunteers can become involved in different areas of our work depending on their interests, experience, and the current needs of the organisation.

We work with an experienced local team, and volunteers contribute alongside our staff in supporting existing programmes and activities. We value people who bring an open mind, initiative, flexibility, and a willingness to learn. Our work places strong emphasis on direct engagement with communities, giving volunteers the opportunity to understand the local context and participate in activities in a meaningful and respectful way.

Volunteer involvement may include support in areas such as education, community outreach, social work, research, communications, administration, programme development, fundraising, and other organisational activities. The exact role can be adapted to the skills and experience of each volunteer and to the priorities of the organisation at the time.

Our aim is to create a well-rounded experience that allows volunteers to understand how a locally based organisation works and how community programmes are developed and implemented in practice. Every person brings different knowledge, professional experience, and personal strengths, and we seek to use these in ways that contribute to our work and the communities we work with.

NAMBI FELLOWSHIP

Our Fellows are an important part of our work. Through the NAMBI FELLOWSHIP, Fellows work directly with communities in Uganda and contribute to programmes in social work, health, education, international relations, and security management.

Who is a NAMBI Fellow?

NAMBI Fellows are recent university graduates and young professionals in Social Work, Nursing, Medicine, Education, International Relations, and Security Management who are interested in applying their professional knowledge in community-based work.

Fellows work alongside our experienced local team and support the implementation of programmes through cooperation with communities, local leaders, schools, health facilities, institutions, and other partners.

What do Fellows do?

Our Fellows support the implementation of our programmes and contribute their professional knowledge and skills to our work.

Social Work Fellows support community outreach, family assessments, child protection activities, case management, referrals, psychosocial support, and cooperation with local institutions and service providers.

Nursing and Medicine Fellows contribute to health education, community health activities, health promotion, prevention programmes, outreach, research, and cooperation with qualified healthcare professionals and health facilities.

Education Fellows support teaching and learning activities, teacher development, educational programmes, school engagement, learning assessments, and activities designed to improve access to and participation in education.

International Relations Fellows contribute to research, partnerships, policy analysis, programme development, advocacy, communications, donor relations, and cooperation with local and international organisations.

Security Management Fellows support research, community safety initiatives, risk assessment, programme security, conflict analysis, prevention activities, and approaches that strengthen the safety and resilience of communities and organisations.

Fellows also contribute to monitoring and evaluation, research, administration, communications, fundraising, and programme development according to their professional background and the needs of the organisation.

Fellows work closely with our team and build strong relationships with communities, local professionals, institutions, and partner organisations. Through these relationships, they support programme delivery, community engagement, and the development of long-term solutions.
